The first is that every machine has subtle differences in operation, from engagement points of clutch and brakes to the way in which the throttle "rolls on". These small differences are part of what we try to help you find when you ride with us… Adventure Riding is all about finesse. And the little things are part of the greater definition of "finesse". If you learn on your bike, you will be "smoother" than if you learn on someone else's.
The second reason we think you should ride your own bike is that it belongs to you, and when it carries you safely through trials and tribulations you trust it more, and perhaps take a feeling of pride in all the tough stuff it has carried you through… kind of like a horse, you slap it on the tank and say something like "this old bike has carried me to hell and back"- you will point at the scratches and view them as a badge of honor. Its good stuff!
The final reason that we urge you to bring your own bike to training is that you will take care of it! Many folks have a devil-may-care attitude about rental equipment. There is an old joke about "never buying a rental car" because of the abuse that has been heaped on them. So, if circumstances dictate that you must rent a bike from us, please attempt to care for it as though it were your own bike.
Note: Renters must be at least 25 years of age and possess a valid motorcycle endorsement on their Driver's License.
