The Rocky Mountain Adventure Rally (2006)
Brought to you by RawHyde Adventures and Horizons Unlimited.

Get out of the summer heat and ride with us in the "cool" Rocky Mountains

We're doing something new with this event, and we are proud to announce that we are co-presenting this rally in partnership with Horizons Unlimited. H. U. as we call them is the definitive source of information for all things that concern the motorcycle "Traveler". You will meet Grant Johnson, the owner of Horizons Unlimited. Grant has spent 11 years riding around the world on his trusty GS. You will also have the chance also to meet Chris and Erin Ratay, holders of a Guiness world record for their "round the world" motorcycle trip on BMW 650's. You will also rub elbows with other world travelers and learn about the magic of international travel by motorcycle. Its going to be an exciting event.

Where is the rally? High in the Rocky Mountains lies the historic mining town of Leadville. The unique thing about Leadville is that it is Americas highest incorporated town, and it is the jumping off point for one of the crown jewels of adventure riding. Mosquito Pass! Mosquito Pass is the highest navigable road in North America. If you have been to RawHyde's past rallies chances are that you have been to Death Valley, which is the lowest place in the "Western Hemisphere"... join us for this event and add the highest place you can go by motorcycle to your "been there done that" list.

There has never been, nor will there ever be again another city like Leadville, Colorado. The epitome of the western Boom town, Leadville had it all, rags to riches stories, outlaws & good guys. The Younger gang lived here, Doc Halliday had his final "shoot out" here, Bat Masterson and Earps were here as well. There are many, many mines left to see and explore and it's a motorcyclists paradise as well.

Plan to join RawHyde Adventures and Horizons Unlimited July 6th to 9th for the Rocky Mountain Adventure Rally, click here for more details about the rally. And Click here to learn more about our friends at  Horizons Unlimited.

RIDING AT THE RALLY:

Adventure riding is one of the most rewarding things that can be done on two wheels. Do you know that more than 95% of the worlds roads are unpaved. And some of the most beautiful and interesting places in America are somewhere beyond where the pavement ends. If you are nervous about dirt roads or difficult terrain, join us at a RawHyde Class on off road riding (See Adventure Camp on our home page)...

This Rally has lots of options for a variety of great riding. We strongly suggest that you get a "Delorme- or - Benchmark map of Colorado to help with your navigation. As our rally programs get more refined we have found it more and more difficult to get permits for "specific rides" thus, we are not encouraging group rides on clearly identified routes. Our offering to you with the rally program is the chance to make new friends and explore the unique areas that we are visiting.

RAWHYDE IN THE PRESS

"It is unusual to find a circumstance where BMW dealers in three states would jointly get behind a special event, but this is just what happened when BMW dealers from California, Arizona and Nevada joined forces to promote the first-ever California Adventure Rally. Jim Hyde of RawHyde Adventures (www.RawHyde- off road.com) provided the planning and organizational expertise to enable this ambitious concept to become a reality..."
