We have a lot of new things planned for the 2006 Sierra Extreme so check back frequently for updates.

Before we go any further let me point out that the "Adventure Riding" in this area is astounding... literally thousands of miles of adventure roads to check out... as well as any of your favorite rides from last years event.

We have moved the venue from Mammoth to Bridgeport & this is the first time that we have partnered with a "town" to produce a rally, there are some unique benefits to doing so, and I have to tell you Bridgeport is one of the coolest places on the planet. Its a historic Stage Coach stop on the way to California's best preserved Ghost town of Bodie & Bodie is amazing... What's more area around Bridgeport is one of the most beautiful places in North America. If you have never spent time in this area you won't regret joining us.

Camping or Motels? as always camping is included in your rally fee, but perhaps a motel sounds good too. One cool aspect of this rally is that camping and motels are at the exact same venue. Both the Bridgeport inn and the Virginia Creek Settlement have offered to allow our "campers" to set up their tents on the grounds of their property. RawHyde will be using the Bridgeport inn as the Event Headquarters ! The inn was originally built in the 1870's to serve as a stage stop for people traveling to the boomtown of Bodie. The cool thing about the inn is that it has been restored "in period" to a nearly new condition, the bar is an ornate victorian affair and is a congenial place to hang out after a hard days ride. If you would like to be "where the action is" be sure to stay at the inn. If you would like to reserve a room at the bridgeport inn please contact us via email and we will organize it for you! see the link below.

The Virginia Creek Settlement is another unique place to base yourself for the rally, there is camping available as well as some "camping cabins" and a full service motel. FYI a "camping cabin" is a simple cabin with a mattress and bottom sheet upon which you put your own sleeping bag. They are inexpensive, and the "settlement" is set up much like an old western town. The nice thing about the Virginia Creek Settlement is that the river runs immediately adjacent to the campground, its a quick moving river, so you will have that "babbling brook sound" to lull you to sleep at nite. The "Settlement" is just down the road from the Bridgeport inn. and the link is below.

The other reason that we are hosting this rally in a town is that I don't want "RawHyde" to become a dirty word for your spouses so we are hoping that you will ask them if they want to join in the fun. We are setting this rally up to be as much fun for your spouses as it is for you.

What's in it for the wives... ??

Private tour of Bodie with an interpretive guide: Bodie is an amazing place with a wild history. The tour will be at 4 PM on Friday, The guides who take the private groups are a wealth of information, and we are allowed into several areas that are "out of bounds" for the general public. This tour is included in the price of your rally package.. Its well worth while... and My wife and I will be going with the group. we look forward to sharing this experience with all who come along...

Champagne brunch on Sonora pass... RawHyde will host an elegant "brunch" near the top of Sonora Pass on Saturday. This would be an awesome way to add some elegance to the very best street ride on the West Coast... make it a goal to "ride the loop" .. out on Sonora Pass from Bridgeport, and return "To" Bridgeport via Tioga Pass... These two passes are the "crown jewels" of the High Sierras. a great ride to do with your partners. It will be a long day.... but wow.... what scenery !!

A day at the spa? There is a world class Spa about a half hour from Bridgeport.. situated just at the base of the Sierras in June Lake. Its called the Double Eagle resort. The Eagle offers a full range of spa experiences, but recommends a two week advance reservation... so, while the guys are out riding for the day its entirely possible to drop your wife off for a day at the spa. click here for details .

Fishing: For anyone interested in a fishing competition ... we have our friends at Twin Lakes resort hosting a fishing tournament which will begin Thursday morning. Twin Lakes is a gorgeous spot... and the lake is absolutely teeming with fish. If you are a fisherman.... bring your gear, arrive a day early and spend some time in this trout fishing paradise.

A wealth of history: Bridgeport is a very historic little town. There is a great museum, and the Bridgeport inn is the original 1870 era Stage stop. The inn has been restored perfectly "in period" and is amazing...

OK... Now for the riding and the Adventure... We know that you come to these events for the riding - as I said above its astounding... both on the street and in the dirt... The highlights of Adventure for this rally will be The Tioga/Sonora loop, Burcham flats road, Trail of the Gargoyles and The Whitaker Dardenelles. All within 30 miles of Bridgeport. I think that many of you have come to trust our assessment of such places.... and I assure you... these ride are amazing. I will be leading the trail of the Gargoyles ride on Friday, and the Tioga/Sonora Loop on Saturday. (stay tuned, more info coming on the rides)

On behalf the entire RawHyde Staff, we look forward to seeing you.
